Natural Products

Tarrazu is known for its exceptional coffee beans (harvested at an altitude of more than 1350 meters).

But also, for its stunning views, rich volcanic soil, high altitude, and cool climate, that offers these beans specific organoleptic characteristics, such as a good body with cup of high acidity, fine and non-spicy, excellent aroma, characterized by an intense and slightly chocolate, citrus and tropical flavor.

Tarrazu’s coffee is known for producing a distinguished coffee with an artisanal harvest and natural processing and it’s tasting notes are highly appreciated by the most demanding markets in the world.

Moments and Traditions

Costa Rica’s tropical weather, uncountable rivers, volcanoes, cloud forest and sandy beaches hosts nearly 6,5% of the biodiversity of the world.

This green country ranked like the Happiest Country in the world, according to the Happy Planet Index (HPI) on the previous years.

PROTECTED DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN (PDO)

Only coffee growing in the geographical region of Tarrazu can obtain the denomination Tarrazu.

BANDERA AZUL ECOLOGICA PROGRAM
Coffee farms and communities under the program Bandera Azul Ecologica (Ecological Blue Flag) aim to protect natural resources, seek sustainable development and implement actions against climate change.

CUP OF EXCELLENCE
Many winning farms in the Cup of Excellence, under the standards of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) in Costa Rica are from Tarrazu.
